Because the program was reversed, it's a quiet day today. The breakfast is just served for 8u30: absolutely delicious pancakes. Since most people are awake early we can visit the (quit) village and examine the graveyard.
After loading (and pushing) the jeeps, we drive back in the direction of Uyuni. On good luck one hopes to find the place of the concert. And indeed, on such a plain it is not difficult to find the location where hundreds of people come together. The jeeps are parked in the row. Also the woman of our guide (she is Belgian) is there, with her son and an other Belgian girl who travels around in South America.
The symphonic concert is a one-time event. It is very special, and even the president comes to listen. It seems, however, that more people came for the president then for the concert. But listening to traditional music on a salt plain is really unique event. You must been there to image what's like. Only pity that the wind blows too hard in the microphone from time to time.
After our dinner (while listing to the concert in the background), we drive back to the salt hotel. There the next adventure waits: biking on the salt lake.
Eventually we reach the edge of the lake, where we have a quick look at some local workers that make there living out of salt production. For a very low fee they fill 1kg af salt. By the hand of course: 1000 kilograms produces 12bs (90bef).
And since it's weekend, there is also a procession in the village.
After this we return to our starting place in Uyuni. Because we leave tonight (11.30pm) with the night train to La Paz, we have lot's of time left. The guide fills the first our with a short visit to the train cemetery... just before we make the only train ride of this journey...
After loading all the luggage, we walk through the village: dinner in a pizzeria, listening to local music in the sport hall, ringing Sofie to make an appointment (another Belgian girl who lives in La Paz). Together with the postal stamps the phone must be the most expensive item in Bolivia. Our phone card of 10bs (75 fr.) is used in less than 3 minutes, for an national conversation...
Eventually our guide brings the luggage to the train station, and after a quest for the right wagon (...one moment, wagons are added to this train...), we can leave by midnight. Now only trying to catch some sleep...
